David Crosby Doesn’t Hold Back in New Documentary Remember My Name

At 76, the singer and songwriter says he has no plans to slow down.

After a successful premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the David Crosby documentary Remember My Name finally hits theaters on July 19. Through a series of interviews, most with filmmaker and onetime Rolling Stone journalist Cameron Crowe, Crosby reflects on his storied life and career, starting with his Los Angeles childhood, forming The Byrds and Crosby, Stills and Nash, his drug use, politics, health issues and loss of both loved ones and collaborators. Crosby and his wife currently live in the Santa Ynez Valley.

In her review for IndieWire, writer Kate Erbland notes, “Crosby’s willingness to talk should never be mistaken for a willingness to behave, and the film is peppered with amusing (and, in their own way, insightful) moments in which he tries to take the reins of the production for himself. ‘There isn’t a shot!’ he barks at Eaton’s crew as they stroll outside the Laurel Canyon Country Store, the apex of so much of Crosby’s early musical life, convinced there is nothing inherently cinematic about watching him walk around a dusty sidewalk.”
