Where to Stay
Inspired by the great lodges of the West, Edgewood Tahoe Resort, on the South Shore, melds rustic romance with modern styling. A vaulted ceiling heightens an impressive view of the lake, with expansive windows filling the space with natural light. Rooms and suites mirror the casual elegance and feature a terrace, gas fireplace and comfy Frette robes for chilly nights. The spa specializes in holistic massages, utilizing locally sourced stones to deepen the relationship between body and earth—leaving you feeling enlightened and wonderfully alive.

The Incline Lodge on the North Shore of the lake debuts a newly renovated, boutique and locally owned hotel. A roaring fireplace and cozy vibes greet you in the spacious lobby, a great place to enjoy drinks with friends after a day on the slopes. The guest rooms offer an alpine view and a Tahoe-inspired design, including a charming toile wallpaper in the bathrooms. On cold and stormy days, be sure to take advantage of the heated indoor pool.

Where to Dine
If you’re in the mood for a drive, Stella in nearby Truckee is garnering raves from both locals and visitors alike. With a nod to California farming and sustainability, the soulful dishes, many vegan or vegetarian friendly, are sourced locally and prepared in an open kitchen environment.

Also in Truckee, and equally worth the drive, is Tangerine Bistro, a classic French bistro that opened in 2023. With a fresh, modern take on French fare, you can sip a glass from their curated wine list while indulging in housemade charcuterie and fine French cheeses, fresh backed baguette, gorgeous desserts and more.

What to Do
Hit the slopes, of course! Heavenly is one of the most popular day destinations for skier and snowboarders, with runs for all levels. Take the scenic gondola to the top and enjoy a spectacular view of the lake and surrounding woodlands. If you prefer activities at a lower altitude, the village is great fun, with plenty of dining, shops and activities to you busy.
Outside of Tahoe along the Donner Pass, Sugar Bowl draws crowds to its snow-packed slopes. With a handsome lodge, excellent dining and fun après ski scene, you can ski or board right into a delightful and cozy evenings with friends and family.

Embark on a snowmobile journey with Lake Tahoe Adventures in partnership with the Forest Service. On Fridays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., a forest ranger will join the tour to provide an immersive eco-educational experience. Discover the beauty and history of the Humboldt-Toiyabe Hope Valley while exploring Tahoe’s pristine snow-covered trails.
One Man’s Journey From Los Angeles to Tijuana in a Kayak
When Andrew Szabo, a 46-year-old Manhattan Beach entrepreneur, told his wife that his midlife crisis involved the purchase of an ocean kayak and the desire to paddle from MB to Tijuana, her reaction was simple: “Have a good trip, and make sure your life insurance premiums are paid.” What followed were three months of intense preparations, a life-changing journey and becoming part of the global battle to raise awareness for tuna overfishing.
